When performing diagnostic of compliance work for clients, SoundScience recognises that acoustic consultants need to ensure they provide their clients with the best available advice.

In many heavy industrial situations, traditional noise loggers cannot provide an accurate noise measurement on their own and consultants are required to make some assumptions about the noise environment in order to generate an estimate of the noise levels.

The kind of situations where this occurs includes:

Where other noise sources are operating close to an industrial site, i.e. nearby roads, farming activity etc.
Where the background environment is relatively noisy, i.e. situations where the background noise level reaches within 5dB of a compliance level.

In these environments, BarnOwl® with its fully directional monitoring capability can give accurate measurements of all noise sources to within 1dBA, a level of accuracy not possible with standard noise loggers.

This allows consultants to demonstrate for their clients, with levels of accuracy and confidence not previously possible, their compliance with any noise limits (at any time) imposed on them through Consent or License Conditions.
