Version 7 of the BarnOwl® software, ncorporates significant advances
in acoustic and communications technology as well as making it Windows 7 compatible. Some of the enhancements
include:
• detecting the complete spectrum of sound arriving from
a selected direction. This represents a major advance in BarnOwl’s
sound detection capabilities, and provides another level of information
for use in source identification.
• real-time data from the field unit available directly in
industry-standard SQL and Named Pipes formats. This provides a new level of flexibility.

SoundScience takes on management of Rail Friction Management - June 2013
Soundscience takes on maintenance of TORFMA at a number of sites. These assist with wheel squal minimisation and allows TfNSW to identify the lubrication is being reliably supplied to the rail. SoundScience visits the sites regularly to top up lubricants and undertake any necessary maintenance as well as meet reporting requirements.

NATA Calibration Now Available for BarnOwl
- April 2009
SoundScience can now organise for the acoutical components of the
BarnOwl® system to be NATA calibrated as a whole as a
non integrating sound level meter. This provides certainty about
the acoustical accuracy of the hardware and software.
BarnOwl Available as Remote Station
- August 2008
BarnOwl is now available in an "industrial
pc" format which means the need for site sheds and mains
power can be reduced or eliminated. The unit has succssfully operated
in a temperature controlled environment between 40-50 degrees with
no apparent change in performance.

BarnOwl® available in 12v low
power version -
February 2007
SoundScience is pleased to announce that BarnOwl® is
now available in a 12v low power mobile version based on the Sinus
Soundbook technology (which incorporates a Panasonic Toughbook).
For customers requiring permanent systems, the unit will now be
able to operate continuously in a remote environment, with appropriate
solar panels and batteries.
More importantly, for customers requiring a mobile system i.e. Regulatory
Authorities, Acoustic Consultants or clients using it more as a
diagnostic tool, the system can operate for several hours and is
now extremely lightweight and portable.
For diagnostic use BarnOwl® is available for short-term

November 2005
SoundScience is pleased to accept this prestigious award within
the Australian acoustic industry. CSR Bradford Insulation in conjunction
with the Australian Acoustical Society present this award on an
annual basis. It is open to any aspect of Australian acoustics which
is considered to be "excellent" by the panel of 3, comprising
a representative from CSR Bradford and two members of the Society.
